Tom Davidson is a Scottish print maker, who was born in 1956. He qualified in Graphic design in 1977, and when completing his course he returned to printmaking which he excelled in, and then began creating prints using lino cutting as a career. He is now well known for his precise and very accurate lino cuts, inspired by the landscape around the Scottish Borders. Davidson sometimes uses up to six colours in his final outcome, which gives the print the appearance of a painting.

When looking through his prints, I found them very inspiring. By trying lino cutting before looking at his work, I can fully appreciate the precision of his work. I find it astonishing how well he can create depth in his prints, as well as successfully making objects look as if the are three dimensional, just by the way he has cut particular lines.
